New features of Chronoscope World
Chronoscope World is a time machine to explore the history of the world, browsing maps from the 13th until the 20th century. The new features of update 2.10 (21-Jun-2021) will be presented briefly on this page.
Maps
Chronoscope World 2.10 provdies access to 2,461 old maps. That’s 290 new old maps compared to 2,171 maps in version 2.9.
User Interface
Localization
The user interface is available in English and German. The map layer is adjusts to English, German, French, Spanish, Portugese, Russian or Arabic depending on the locale settings of the browser.
Tools
- Main Bar
The Atlas command and the Edition command show the number of maps in a red circle.- History Bar
Visited maps are stored for a session and can be recalled: Press B (back)
Atlas command
Some atlas sets are multi-segment map collections – but some segments might be lost. These missing maps are now empty spots on the table of maps to preserve the general layout.
Map Filter
Maps can be filtered by scale. Use the new vertical slider on the left edge of the screen to select the desired scale.
Open the Layout mode: L
Fast filter for scale according to the current view port.
Activate all scales.
- Time filter
Fast filter by year – set the time filter to plus/minus 10 years of the current active map: Press Y- An interval can also be move by the keyboard: Press Shift Q or Shift W
The Layout command has a green circle to indicate an active filter.
ChronoCursor Context Menu
New plugins for Victoria’s secret menu:
sMapshot support – thousands of historical photos of Switzerland; zoom level 8 and higher
EO Browser – latest satellite photos of planet Earth; Chronoscope’s Satellite Mode needs to be active.
